One of the finest wines ever made by proprietor Christian Dauriac, this big, chunky, fleshy, corpulent St.-Emilion is bursting with blueberry, blackberry and raspberry fruit interwoven with smoky charcoal and barbecue notes. It is full-bodied and unctuously textured, with plenty of weight as well as very impressive concentration and extract. There is no shortage of glycerin (alcohol) and tannin in this powerful St.-Emilion that should evolve for up to two decades. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (199) 66% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon Wine notes |

The oak in Destieux’s 2012 is better integrated than usual, and this attractive, elegant, full-throttle St.-Emilion reveals lots of red and black fruits along with earthy soil undertones and hints of roasted herbs as well as subtle oak. Enjoy it over the next 10-12 years. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (200)

The Dauriac family tends to produce a chunky, masculine-styled wine, but the 2012 Destieux possesses more finesse and elegance than usual. This 20-acre property is planted with 66% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc and 17% Cabernet Sauvignon. The latter varietal may explain why this wine often has a lot of tannin. The dense-colored 2012 reveals plenty of tannin along with a beefy, muscular mouthfeel, medium body and excellent depth. This somewhat rugged, unformed 2012 has a lot going on, and I believe it will get better with additional barrel aging. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (206)
