Chateau Cap de Mourlin The Capdemourlin family, landowners in Saint-Emilion for over four centuries, have given their name to part of the commune, as well as their own wine estate. Prior to their arrival, this locality was called Artugon. It has now belonged to the same family for so long that everyone refers to it as Cap de Mourlin.
The 14 hectares of vines are situated on the northern slope of Saint-Emilion; the soil is largely clay-limestone and sandy on a layer of hardpan. Cellar facilities include state-of-the art temperature regulated fermentation in stainless steel vats, following which the wine is oaked in the traditional manner prior to bottling.
The cepage of the vineyard is 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The average age of the vines is 34 years. Selection is rigorous. Half of all barrels are made of new oak per vintage. View our wines from Chateau Cap de Mourlin
