Bordeaux 2005Bordeaux 2005
Bill Blatch, a local expert on Bordeaux wines, describes the 2005 vintage as “a text-book harvest for all of Bordeaux. The sun shone almost permanently and showers came exactly when and where required to add the final touch, and all of this after a dry hot season, during which what little rain there was fell just before all the vital sequences of the vine’s cycle. What more could we have asked for?”
“Tasting the 2005 red wines from the bottle, many of them three or four times, confirmed that this is the greatest vintage produced during my 30-year career.” – Robert Parker
“Years like 2005 – perfect years – have arrived before but never since have we improved our methods, and our tools, for expressing the character of our wines more exactly. In years gone by, it was rather hit and miss. It is probable, therefore, that 2005 will come to be regarded as the best vintage of all time.” – Alfred Tesserson, proprietor of Chateau Pontet-Canet.
“I think now we should retire; we can’t do anything better than this”. - Frédéric Engerer.
“In 2005 Nature did everything right and put not a foot wrong so that quantities of beautifully healthy grapes were delivered to practically every cellar.” – Jancis Robinson. « Back to main page
